On December 28th, "the Tenth Anniversary of the Laoniu Foundation Memorial” was held in Hohhot. Government bodies in close collaboration with the Foundation, industry colleagues, partners, previous board members and supervisors, Niu's family members, volunteers and staff have participated in this event. At the memorial, the Foundation released a "Tenth Anniversary Photo Album", a "Tenth Anniversary Documentary", a “Tenth Anniversary Memorial Plate" and a new logo. Also, a new strategic plan was presented, which was passed at the fifth board meeting of the second Board of Directors after.
On October 8th, Mr. Gensheng Niu received “Annual Oak Leaf Award of 2014" (The highest TNC award for global environmental protection).
On August 16th, the first "China Charity Forum" was held in Beijing, initiated by the China Charity Alliance and funded by LNF. More than 500 guests attended the forum, including domestic and international philanthropy leaders, experts and scholars, and social celebrities. Over 50 guests offered corresponding speeches and participated in dialogues. Mr Lei Yongsheng, the Secretary General of LNF, gave the speech titled "Promising Family Foundations". On the 17th, some of the attendees visited LNF’s environment protection and education projects in Helinge’er, Inner Mongolia.
In May, LNF invited Venture Avenue and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to provide strategic planning and consulting services.
On Feb. 26, LNF and the American Henry M. Paulson Foundation held partnership signing ceremony in Beijing. LNF donated 1 million US dollars, and Paulson Foundation self-raised 640,000 US dollars. Other partners include the East-West Center, the International Cranes Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, China's State Forestry Administration, the State Oceanic Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Wetland Science and Technology Committee of Experts, etc. They are in joint hands to promote the cause of China's environmental protection, and research and protection of China's most irreplaceable natural wetland resources.
On January 25th, the 50th Anniversary of the Sino-France Diplomatic Relation Celebration “50 years, 50 people” was officially launched in Beijing. The event was co-initiated by the former French Prime Minister Raffarin and the former ambassador to France Jianmin Wu. Mr. Gensheng Niu from the Lao Niu Foundation), Mr. Chaoyong Wang from Xinzhongli Capital Group, Ms. Hua Xia from EVE Group, and Ms. Linda Wang from Yihai Group sponsored this event. On December 2nd, Mr. Gensheng Niu was awarded the "Sino-France Humanity and Goodwill Ambassador" by the Committee.
On December 20, LNF signed a donation agreement with the East-West Center, investing 500,000 US dollars to initiate the first East-West charity forum. The forum was co-founded by LNF, Huamin Charity Foundation, East-West Center in Hawaii, and China Philanthropy Research Institute. We devote ourselves to building the forum into the world's philanthropy "Davos" - the world's highest level of unofficial charity forum: taking the spirit of "promoting wealth sharing ideas, expanding communication and collaboration between East and West"; convening the world's most influential philanthropy leaders and business leaders; bringing in international modern charitable thoughts and ideas; leading strategic development and collaboration in global philanthropy.
On December 13, LNF signed an agreement with Tony Blair African Governance Initiative (AGI) to develop charitable projects in Africa. LNF became the first Chinese partner of AGI in the field of public welfare.
On October 22, LNF donated RMB 6 million, along with RMB 6 million match fund from Inner Mongolia government to give artificial limb installation to 3,000 people with disabilities.
On August 15, LNF donated RMB 10 million to set up “Thousand People for Charity Initiative - Lao Niu Academy", in partnership with China Charity & Donation Information Center (CCDIC). The academy aimed at mining talents for China's charity sector and cultivating industry leadership. LNF hopes to improve "Talent Ecology" fundamentally, and to promote specialization of China's charity talent as well as the industry's sustainable development. The project plans to train more than 200 "professional managers" for the philanthropy sector in 3 years.
On April 27, at the 10th "2013 China Charity Board Ya’an Fundraising Event", LNF donated RMB 10 million for post-disaster reconstruction in Ya’an.
On April 19, the "Inner Mongolia ShengLe International Eco Zone Project" won “The Most Influential Project" from the Ministry of Civil Affairs in China Charity Award of 2013.
On Feb 28th, the fifth session of the second board meeting announced the election of Zhang Xingsheng, Lei Yongsheng, Li Jian, Wu Shihong, Tian Yueyong, Sarentuoya, Zong Lina to serve as members of the third Board. Song Liang no longer served as members of the board. Zhang Xingsheng was elected as the board director, while Lei Yongsheng as the secretary-general. After seeking suggestions from the authority and major donors, Han Shaojun was appointed as supervisor of the third board.
On Jan 15th, LNF donated 1 million Canadian dollars to the University of Toronto, Canada. The money was used to make a sculpture for Norman Bethune, and establish scholarships in Norman Bethune’s alma mater - Toronto University School of Medicine - in order to promote communication between China and Canada on culture, education and medicine. -It was the first international project.
On Dec 31th, approved by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Finance Office and Home Office, the Associate was deactivated. All assets, personnel and projects were taken over by LNF.
On Sept 12th, LNF attended the first “China Charity Project Exchange Exhibition” organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.- It was the first appearance of LNF at a large domestic charity activity.
On July 2nd, LNF was granted non-profit tax-exemption status, at the same time, the the tax-exemption status for the Association was repealed.
On June 12th, LNF’s started its self-developed project “Lao Niu Children's Discovery Museum”. It is a early childhood education program developed by LNF, Hohhot Government, China Children's Center, and Beijing Normal University China Philanthropy Research Institute. By introducing western design concept, combining traditional Chinese culture and the practical experience of children education, this project is going to build two innovative and interactive model museums in Hohhot and Beijing. The philosophy of the project is to help children to obtain correct understanding of the world through practice, observation, and discovery; to grasp accurate judgment of things through exploration and thinking; to encourage independent learning through interactive design so that children can be more confident; to build a no-thinking-limit learning environment so that children can be more creative and imaginative; to form correct values about this diversified world through organizing activities; to guide children to face up to the challenge and tap into their potentials.
On April 25th , the launch ceremony of “Lao Niu Environmental Studies International Exchange Fund" was held at Tsinghua University. LNF donated RMB 5 million, in partnership with Tsinghua University Education Foundation to set up a fund using capital preservation grant to sustainably fund for international learning and exchanges for outstanding talents in environment field.
In December, LNF was included in the "China Transparent Philanthropy Report" by China Charity Information Center. In the year of 2011, LNF ranked the 51st among 1,000 charitable organizations in China. In year of 2013, LNF was granted “Excellent Organization Award” (highest honor).
On December 15th, LNF donated RMB10 million to China Green Carbon Foundation to establish "Laoniu Special Fund for Ecological Restoration and Protection ".
On November 11th, Mr. Niu’s family visited Rockefeller Mansion. Mr. Niu’s Family and David Rockefeller as well as other Rockefeller family members shared histories and experiences of doing charity in China and in the United States.
On September 6th, LNF signed an agreement with Inner Mongolia Normal University and donated a school in Helingeer County. The class size of the school is small (30 people), and the school covers education for twelve years, from early childhood education to high school education. The project has been completed and put into use with a total investment of RMB 220 million, of which 70% (about RB 140 million) was donated by LNF. The school covers 60,000 square meters and is able to accommodate 2,000 students. Uniquely, the school provides tennis training and psychological counseling service for children.
On August 12th, LNF donated RMB 1 million to National China Red Cross Association Training Center, carrying out the "Laoniu life school" project in 60 schools in 10 cities. Later, LNF donated RMB 1 million to the Inner Mongolia Red Cross Association, carrying out the project in 45 universities in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The purpose of the project is to let students learn basic knowledge and skills to deal with emergencies and accidents, to improve students’ awareness of self-help and helping others. Beneficiaries so far have reached nearly 500,000 people.
On July 15, Mr. Niu Gensheng won the award of “Most Caring Individual” granted by the Ministry of Civil Affairs on the 6th China Charity Award Ceremony.
On May 7th, LNF donated RMB 9 million, and initiated the establishment of Western Sichuan Nature Protection Foundation to carry out biodiversity protection work in Sichuan, with other 18 organizations such as TNC, Alibaba and Tencent Charitable Foundation.
On May 4th, approved by Taxation Bureau and Finance Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Association was granted non-profit tax exemption status.
On Dec 28th, LNF endowed RMB 10 million to Shanghai Jet Li One Foundation, for the establishment of “Shenzhen One Foundation” , -the first public foundation not initiated by government.
On Dec 6th, LNF participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Cancun, Mexico. During the series of events on China Day, LNF presented its environmental protection projects – first time to participate in high-class international environmental protection activity.
On July 28th, Mr. Niu donated 68,781,022 shares of China Mengniu (listed company) to Hengxin Trust. The main beneficiaries of the Trust Fund are prestigious charity organizations including LNF – First time to bring in the concept of financial management by a charitable trust.
On July 16th, LNF and TNC signed an agreement, to conduct “Inner Mongolia Shengle International Eco Zone” project. The investment is being made in partnership with the Inner Mongolia Forestry Department, China Green Carbon Foundation. The project will seek to restore and conserve 40,000 mu of lands over a 30-year period in the Heling’er region of Inner Mongolia. So far, LNF has invested RMB 175,000,000 to explore the reforestation of ecologically degraded lands from 4 aspects: climate adaptation / vegetation restoration / water management / green industry – first time to get involved in the environmental protection field.
On June 18th , LNF endowed RMB10 million to Shanghai Jet Li One Foundation, for the establishment of “Beijing Normal University One Foundation Philanthropy Research Institute”. (Later on it changed to “Beijing Normal University China Philanthropy Research Institute”.)
On May 28th, Mr. Niu and LNF signed “the Share Donation Agreement”, and donated his 21,111,225 shares of the Mengniu Group to LNF. Up to this point, Mr. Niu has completely donated all of his shares from the Mengniu Goup.
On Jan 22th, the third session of the first board meeting announced the election of Li jian, Lei Yongsheng, Wu Shihong, Song Liang, Zhang Xingsheng, Zong Lina, Narentuoya to serve as members of the second Board. Wang Huaibao, Mou Jingjun, Bagenna no longer served as members of the board. Zong Lina was elected as the board director, while Lei Yongsheng as the secretary-general.
On Dec 30th, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange Association approved that HK $ 955 million revenue can be temporarily repatriated so that LNF can utilize Hong Kong's financial platform to maximize the value of assets intended for social good.
On Dec 16th, LNF donated HK$ 2 million to establish Hong Kong NPO Training Center for professionals and social entrepreneurs in the philanthropic sector - first time to focus and participate in NGO sector development.
On Dec 13th, LNF donated RMB 3.6 million to the National Hongjun Primary School Construction Project Office, to build 11 primary schools nationwide.
On July 8th, LNF donated RMB 1 million to the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, to set up a "Heart Fund". The fund has rescued 222 impoverished orphans in four counties in Inner Mongolia.
On July 6th, the Association sold 54,283,792 shares of the listed company to COFCO and Hope Investments Management Co., Ltd., for about HK $ 955 million.
On Dec 16th, Mr. Niu and LNF signed another “Share donation agreement”, and donated another 16,045,770 shares of Mengniu Group to LNF – the second share donation.
On Dec 9th, LNF endowed RMB 560 million to build “Gengshen Boai Home” and “Gengshen Boai Assistance Fund” in the “5.12” earthquake-stricken area. The project directly benefited 100 orphans, elder people, and people with disabilities in Jiangyou, Sichuan, and through sending orphans back to school, elderly care, and disability rehabilitation, etc
In July, upon the approval by six state committees, the Association replaced all shares from Mengniu Group with 54,283,792 shares of China Mengniu (listed company), -meaning that the Association could get large amount of money for charitable donation at any time.
On May 30th, the official website of LNF (http://www.lnfund.net) was launched. On Feb. 5th 2010, the entire website was upgraded to http://www.lnfund.org. On Aug. 1st 2014, the website was upgraded again.
On Feb. 2nd, LNF donated RMB 8 million to the Red Cross China, earmarked for the Southern Snow Disaster Relief – It was the single largest donation that Red Cross received then.
On Dec. 4th, guided by “foundation management regulations”, Lao Niu Foundation was registered (hereinafter referred to as "LNF").
On Oct. 9th, the Association granted RMB 800,000 to Peking University Law School in the purpose of supporting the establishment of the Charity, Sports and Law Research Center – first time to focus on and promote charity legislation.
On Aug. 22nd, the Association funded RMB 510,000 to the Audiology Development Foundation of China and financed cochlear implants surgery for 10 deaf children. After that, another RMB 1 million was donated to help 10 deaf children from poor families.
On July 9th, the Association built up “Xuande Gengshen Boai Primary school” at the earthquake-stricken area of Pu’er, Yunnan, and established “Gengshen Boai Scholarships”. The scholarship used capital guaranteed investment, so the interests will continually subsidize high academic achievers and children from poor families. So 184 students received the scholarship – first time to bring in this funding method.
On June 27th, the Association partnered with the China Health & Medical Development Foundation, and donated RMB 3 million to purchase two mobile medical vehicles, for medical assistance in remote pastoral areas. By the end of 2013, the "mobile hospital" has traveled 105,000 kilometers, visited 728 times, and benefited 50,121 people. Total medical expenses equivalent to RMB 4.5259 million was saved.
On Dec. 25th, the Association and the Helinge'er
Shengle Economic Park Administrative Committee signed an agreement to help improve local cultural, sports and education infrastructure. The project amounted to RMB 115 million.
On Jan. 2nd, Mr. Niu and the Association signed a “Shares Donation Agreement” to donate his 5,348,590 shares of the Mengniu Group to the Association – It was the first share donation.
On Aug. 8th, the Association donated RMB1.125 million to support sculpture construction in Hohhot, in order to establish its "Capital of Chinese Dairy" status and enhance the reputation of Hohhot dairy industry around nation and worldwide. -This was the first public welfare spending.
On Jun. 6th, the First Membership Assembly of the Association and the “Lao Niu Special Fund” was held. The meeting passed the Charters and bylaws of the Association, management regulations of the “Lao Niu Special Fund”, and other related documents.
On Jan. 12th, Mr. Niu and the Association signed a "Donation Agreement", agreeing to donate all his shares of the Mengniu Group and 51% annual dividend to the Association
On January 1st, the first council meeting of the Association was held. The meeting decided to accept Mr. Niu’s donation and establish the “Lao Niu Special Fund”.
On December 28th, "Inner Mongolia Lao Niu Welfare Development Association" was established (hereinafter referred to as the "Association"), under the "Lao Niu Special Fund".
On December 29th, the lawyer Yuhong Yang issued a memo on the establishment of Lao Niu Corporation Development Fund,- which recorded the prototype of what later became "Inner Mongolia Lao Niu Welfare Development Association".
In June, Mr. Gensheng Niu, then President of Mengniu Group; Mr. Jun Lu, Party Secretary; Mr. Yongsheng Lei, Vice President and Board Secretary; together with Ms Yuhong Yang, Partner at Kindu Law Firm, were discussing issues related to Mengniu Group listing. During the discussion, Mr. Niu put forward a suggestion that after the company going public, he wanted to donate all his shares of Mengniu Group through legal ways to society.
